Most of the people know that peach boost up laxative effect. It is because peach has high sugar and water content and hence has a very good laxative effect. Peaches are wonderful in alkalising the blood stream and stimulate the digestive juices. They can be used to regulate the bowel and build the blood. Peaches are an excellent food for elderly people, because the body assimilates this food very easily. Because they are easy to digest, very ripe peaches can be eaten in cases of ulcers of the stomach or inflammation of the bowel, and also in cases of colitis.

Peaches are wonderful in helping to eliminate toxins from the body, and they are good to eat on a weight loss programme.

Some ways to use peaches as medicine:

1. Ripe fruits are given in stomach ailments, as they soothe the walls of the stomach and remove all the accumulated toxins from the digestive system.

2. Its juice is known to remove worms from the intestine.

3. It is also very useful in keeping the eyes healthy.

Fennel - A remedy for Stomach related problems

I have been gastritis for about a month and therefore I have been looking for remedies of stomach pain and other related stomach disorders. Fennel is an excellent stomach and intestinal remedy and also a diuretic. Its decoction is given to the infants for colic and flatulence.

Fennel as medicine:

1. Anaemia: Boil 6 spoons each crushed fennel and red rose petals in one and half teacup water and strain. Take twice daily and drink.

2. Indigestion and gas: Have roasted fennel daily after meals.

3. Constipation: Make a very fine powder of 1 spoon each of the following: fennel, dried ginger and rock salt. Take one spoon with water at bedtime.

4. Diarrhoea: Grind 3 spoon ginger along with 5 spoon fennel into a fine powder. Add enough honey to make a thick paste. Take one spoon in tea three times daily.

5. Colic: Boil 1 spoon fennel in a glass of milk for 10 minutes. Strain and drink. Drink 1 spoon teacup decoction of rose water with honey and fennel.

Papaya is a yellowish color food which is taken during summer by most of the people to keep their stomach cool. But there are some ways through which papaya can be used as medicine and can cure some kind of disorders. The chymopapain in papaya softens tight muscles and is the reason it is the main ingredients in meat tenderizers. The fruit contains vitamins A, B and C. It is a tonic, laxative, digestive and rejuvenative. Ripe fruit is very useful in digestive disorders and if taken regularly, it cures all sorts of stomach troubles.

The unripe fruit is also prescribed in stomach troubles, jaundice, gastritis and liver disorder. The ripe fruit should be eaten regularly for habitual constipation and chronic diarrhoea.

Now Papaya as medicine:

1. The juice is applied on corns, warts, pimples, horny excretions of the skin and other skin diseases.

2. Anaemia, constipation, eye-diseases and intestinal worms: Eat papayas frequently.

3. Liver and spleen inflamation: Taken papaya daily with 1 spoon of honey.

4. Dead, flaky skin on face: Take a ripe papaya slice and mash the pulp. Use it as a face pack overnight.

Spinach-Smells bad but good for health

Spinach has been both praised and abused. It is praised because of its health benefits and abused for its smell and flavour. To retain its best qualities, spinach should be steamed or cooked in minimum water. Spinach is an excellent source of vitamins C and A, and iron and potassium. Spinach has a laxative effect and is wonderful in weight loss diets.

The leaves are valuable in cases of pernicious anaemia, low vitality and neuralgia. Spinach is good for those who are in need of iron, taking and is good as a cleansing blood tonic, healing the intestinal tract, hemorrhoids, anemia and vitamin deficiencies. Spinach has high calcium content, but also contains oxalic acid. The oxalic acid prohibits the absorption of calcium by disease, kidney stones or arthritis should eat spinach sparingly.

Spinach can be used as medicine in the following ways:

1. Cooked spinach vegetable, taken regularly, protects against cancer.

2. Raw spinacg juice taken twice a day before meals lowers the blood sugar.

3. Spinach leaf juice, as a gargle, is good for sore throat.

Onions can solve gastronomical problem

Onion is the most common vegetable universally which is the component of most of the dishes. There are many useful medical significances of onion besides its normal function. In many cases, onion is used to solve gastronomical problems. It is the earliest known food medicines, and was used for hundreds of years for colds and catarrhal disorders and to drive fermentations and impurities out of the system. Effective as a poultice, applied to the chest for colds, congestions, and bronchitis and on the ear for ear infections.

The onion is described as an antiseptic, stimulant, diuretic and expectorant. If eaten raw at dinnertime, the onion ensures a good night’s sleep. For a bad cold and cough there exists nothing better than the consumption of well boiled or fried onions. Onions contain a large amount of sulphur and are especially good for the liver. There is experimental evidence to prove that other than having definite anti-tumour properties, the essential oils found in the onion prevents the deposition of cholesterol in the arteries.

Amla and Health Mantra

Amla is a very small fruit as it looks but it is one of the most useful fruit as medicine. The ripe fruits are yellowish-green, fleshy and are very rich in vitamin C. Fruits are pickled and also eaten fresh. Amla fruit has been held in high esteem in indigenous medicine. It is acidic, cooling, refrigerant, diuretic and laxative. In combination with iron, amla is used as a remedy for anaemia, jaundice and dyspepsia. Amla is one of the three ingredients in Triphala, a compound in indigenous medicine, used in the treatment of headache, biliousness, dyspepsia, constipation, enlarged liver and ascites.

Find out how amla can be used to cure constipation and other disorders:

1. Constipation: Soak 1 or 2 dried fruits in water overnight. Mash and filter the next morning. Add 1 spoon honey and drink.

2. Urinary problems: Soak separately 2 spoons each dried amla and raisins in water overnight. Mash, filter and drink the next morning. Continue for a few days.

3. Headache, heaviness in head: Grind the fresh fruits into a fine paste and apply on affected parts.

4. Skin problem: Grind the dried fruits into a fine powder and use as a substitute for soap.

5. Anxiety, loss of appetite: Remove seeds from fresh fruits and grind the pulp into a fine paste. Tale it in a muslin cloth and squeeze out the juice. Take 2 spoons of this juice and mix it with two spoonfuls each honey and limejuice. Add a teacup water and drink on an empty stomach every morning.
